Species of the week: Onodone

Designation: Sentient

Notable members: Gwellis Bagnoro

Fandom: Star Wars

Appearances: The Force Awakens, The Mandalorian

Onodone are a species made distinct by their facial trunks. There is some variation in the species, with length of trunk varying between different individuals and a range of observed skin tones. They have been sighted on various planets, predominantly in the Outer Rim.

I’m rewatching The Mandalorian before the movie comes out and I remembered the fun of recognising this species in the opening scene.

Species of the week: Arkanian offshoot

Designation: Sentient

Homeworld: Arkania

Notable members: Jarael, Dagan Gera

Fandom: Star Wars

Appearances: Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Survivor

The Arkanians have a millenia-old tradition of genetic experimentation on other species. Naturally they began experimantation on their own species first, creating a species with slightly modified characteristics with more human-looking featured and more pointed ears. One side effect was that offshoots are more likely to be force-sensitive. While initially accepted, Arkanians began to isolate offshoots from their society, making them a lower caste with little priviledges on their home planet. Former Jedi Knight Dagan Gera was an Arkanian Offshoot

I’ve finished Knights of the Old Republic, such a good series with some great species and I thought Jarael, at the very least, deserved a mention!!

Species of the week: Utai

Designation: Sentient

Homeworld: Utapau

Fandom: Star Wars

Appearances: Revenge of the Sith

Utai are one of the two native sentient species on Utapau. While they share some common ancestry with the Pau’an species the two species have diverged significantly with the Utai being shorter and having larger eyes that protrude slightly from their heads. They are the working class of their planet, living in the large sinkholes and maintaining vehicles and starships as well as wrangling native creatures to be used as mounts. Nonetheless they live in harmony with the Pau’and from the surface and have a positive symbiotic relationship.

I watched Revenge of the Sith and thought this species deserved some attention here on the blog!!
